To be in the presence of Scott Simkover is to be in the presence of an Artist. He is truly a creator, involved in every aspect of the wine-making process "from grape to glass" as he charmingly puts it. Wine by wine, he is achieving his goal to make high-quality small batch wines "accessible".
He uses a combination of innovative techniques & a respect for the land & for the vine to create a master method for making award-winning wines. He uses renewable energy to power his winery & holds fast to sustainable farming practices, even sourcing grapes from other who share the same method of nurturing their vineyards. For ten years, he has created over 20 wines, featuring a variety of styles & creative blends. To taste these wines, is to taste a masterpiece of creativity & originality.

Centered in the heart of Lake County's small agricultural community, is the Smiling Dogs Ranch. Our Zinfandel & Barbera grapes are grown using ecologically friendly & sustainable farming methods & we support local wineries by sourcing grapes from others who farm with the same respect for nature. Each and every bottle of the average 1100 cases that we produce annually is carefully crafted step by step with the creative eye of our winemaker.
